Ready to become a better version of yourself? Read on for the 3 lessons I learned from Rich Dad… author and real estate legend Robert Kiyosaki!
For each of the last 3 years, I’ve had the privilege of spending time with Robert Kiyosaki on the Real Estate Guys Summit at Sea. And this past March, I got the opportunity to talk to him one-on-one.
Listen in on that conversation by checking out Episode 160 of the Apartment Building Investing Podcast!
What surprised me most was just how spiritual the man is, working to pursue a calling and become the best version of himself.
In this week’s video blog, I share the 3 lessons I learned from real estate legend and #1 bestselling author of Rich Dad Poor Dad Robert Kiyosaki.
I explain his “Be Do Have” philosophy of achieving success and introduce his definition of true intelligence.
You’ll understand how Kiyosaki has learned to be at peace, leveraging acceptance to operate from a position of power and confidence!
Watch the video below (or keep reading).
Lesson #1: Be Do Have
Before you can DO what is necessary to HAVE the life you want, you must BECOME the person you need to be. I used to dismiss the BE part of the equation, assuming that happiness and fulfillment would come once I had achieved my goals.
But Kiyosaki contends that it’s crucial to focus on BEING first. Build your character, cultivate your spirituality, and work on your mindset in tandem with DOING what it takes to HAVE what you want. BECOMING what Hal Elrod calls a Level 10 person serves as the foundation for doing what it takes to be successful.
Lesson #2: True Intelligence
The second thing I learned from Kiyosaki is his unique approach to problem-solving. He believes that true intelligence means evaluating all 3 sides of a coin, including the edge.
To truly understand an issue, you need to explore both sides. Keep an open mind to the possibilities by positioning yourself on the edge—where you can understand the perspective of both heads AND tails.
Secret #3: Be at Peace
When I first met Kiyosaki, he was fairly rough around the edges. But in recent years, he has become more and more at peace. He has even made it to a point where he doesn’t care if the market goes up or down—and not just because he’s filthy rich! Kiyosaki is at peace because he has learned NOT to get attached to a particular outcome.
You can’t control everything that happens to you. But you CAN control your reaction to those things. Accept what’s happened and you are operating from a position of power and confidence. The alternative is resisting what’s happened and operating from a place of fear and weakness. And that’s not good for anyone.
Final Thoughts
So, if you want to be a little bit more like Rich Dad… icon Robert Kiyosaki, embrace these 3 ideals:
- BE first, then DO what it takes to HAVE the life you want
- Seek true intelligence by evaluating all 3 sides of the coin
- Be at peace and accept the outcome, whatever it may be
