We talk a lot on the show about partnering with each other and the networks we build. But what are some of the things that you can do to surround yourself with the right people?
This is something I've always noticed and is such an important piece. It can be tough because you go through phases of your life and maybe friends you used to have no longer fit with your trajectory.
So what do you do?
Garret Lynch, Director of Acquisitions here at Nighthawk chose to move cities and rebuild consciously. He shares he made the decision to go to “one or two conferences every month, and build that up.” And that's exactly what he did.
“Now, boom, I had a new circle of friends.”
I think it's super important that you surround yourself with people who are like-minded, who have ambitions, who have certain goals. Also, within your peer group, have some advisors.
People who have been where you are and are no longer on your level can help hold you accountable. There are many groups you can join, like EO that Garrett is a member of, Gobundance that I joined about a year ago, or our community here, Deal Maker Mastermind.
These are all successful people who won't necessarily be impressed with what you've done because they are successful in their own right.
Networking is a real game changer and worth looking into.
If you want to surround yourself with the right people find a community that you can be vulnerable with, that will hold you accountable and build you up.
